Our team is dedicated to making every guest feel welcome, respected and supported. We come from different backgrounds and bring diverse experiences, but we share one thing: a genuine desire to help people feel at home and begin again.
Our team
David
David brings more than 25 years of international experience in education, communication, and personal development. He holds a PhD in education and an MS in Human Resource Development, with much of his career focused on helping adults learn, grow, and build confidence.
Having lived and worked in several countries, David has developed a strong appreciation for the importance of belonging, connection, and supportive communities. Those values are central to what he hopes to help create at Second Tide.
As a co-owner, he wants Second Tide to be more than simply a place to stay—it should be a place where people feel respected, encouraged, and able to move forward in their lives.
He believes meaningful change is often strengthened by community, purpose, and the opportunity to begin again.
Liane
Liane is a warm, caring, and creative person who loves making others feel comfortable, welcome, and at home. With experience teaching both elementary and adult students and a Master's degree in School Administration, she brings a natural ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
A successful Superhost in Guatemala, Liane understands what makes a place feel special—not just a beautiful space, but the warmth, thoughtfulness, and little personal touches that make people feel truly cared for.
Liane has a big heart and is naturally empathetic. She especially enjoys anything creative, from arts and crafts to homemade projects, and art has always been her favorite subject to teach. She loves the cozy feeling of a welcoming home and enjoys creating spaces where people can relax, connect, and simply be themselves.
When she's not creating or hosting, you'll often find Liane baking, traveling, trying new restaurants, or spending time with family and friends. Staying healthy and active is important to her, especially enjoying time in the water.
Above all, Liane loves people, meaningful connections, creativity, and creating a place where everyone feels welcome.
Miguel
Miguel is a warm, sociable, and welcoming person who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and making them feel at home. Well traveled, he loves meeting people from different cultures, learning from their experiences, and sharing a few laughs along the way.
Outside of work, Miguel enjoys staying active and making physical fitness a part of his everyday life. He also loves spending time with his Frenchie, who is very much part of the family.
As a tattoo artist, one of Miguel's favorite things is seeing the smile on someone's face when they receive a tattoo they truly love. He takes pride in creating a positive, comfortable experience and connecting with people through his work.
Miguel also brings extensive experience working with individuals seeking sobriety. His understanding, welcoming nature, and ability to connect with people from many different backgrounds help create an environment where guests can feel comfortable, respected, and supported.
